In mid 2014 I and my husband and our two year old son moved to the UK. At the start we lived in small rental accommodation before looking for our first proper home but when doing so we were cheated out of a lot of our money by a Polish property mediator and this left us with only a few hundred pounds. By chance I met 2 other people that have been deceived by the same person, so I decided to report the matter to the police. Fortunately, I met Tony who was involved in this case. Tony maintained contact with the police and then communicated with each of us victims about any progress. Finally, the scammer was punished, but I have no doubt about this, if not for the commitment from LIGHTHOUSE the case could still remain dormant.
After these unpleasant experiences Tony offered his assistance in finding new housing. He made me aware of some interesting offers and helped to check Letting Agency’s credibility and reliability. Because of my imperfect English Tony made contact on my behalf with the authorities, eg. the local council, revenue, utility providers, in my case British Gas. I met Tony in November 2014 after a girlfriend of mine gave me his telephone number. I called to ask for help in my situation and the next day Tony arrived at the house in which I lived in one room with my partner and my five year old daughter, plus I was also eight months pregnant. We are a young married couple who have been living in UK for ten years. We purchased a flat from the Council and we are repaying a mortgage. In May 2014 in the middle of the night the flat above us caught fire and the water used to put this fire out poured down into our flat. The agent of the insurance company promised that all costs were covered by their company. August 4, 2014 we asked Tony for help because we were then living in temporary accommodation whilst our own flat was being repaired and because all the cost was coming initially from our own pocket we were finding it difficult to survive. We were helpless, and my wife was close to having a mental breakdown. After speaking to Tony we did not feel so alone.
